This past weekend we hosted a Sip & See Party for friends on the coast who hadn’t yet met our baby boy. It was a lot of fun and so nice to see everyone who we hadn’t yet seen since having the baby. If you’re wondering, ‘What the heck is a Sip & See’ let me explain.
It’s basically an open-house style baby shower with no gifts or games and all are welcome (men too!). You quite literally sip a drink and see the baby. One of my favourite baby related websites THE BUMP explains in more detail HERE.
Even though the party was more low key than my baby shower I still wanted to have some ‘pizazz’ and of course I love a good theme! I went with ‘You Are My Sunshine’ which perfectly suited the sunny/rainy Spring day that we held the party on.
We made these fun rainbow cupakes for the party that were even rainbow layered inside! They were super easy to make, get the recipe HERE. Baby B did so well at the party and even fell asleep in peoples arms as they took turn cuddling him.
The day before the party I was so excited when I found THE PERFECT outfit for him to wear. It had sunshine and clouds on it, I couldn’t resist!
Since a Sip & See isn’t an all out bash like a baby shower we didn’t go crazy with the food. Besides the cupcakes we had a fun sunshine fruit platter, lemonade and coffee. I found these cute sunshine plates and cloud napkins from a local online party store in Kelowna.
I was also thrilled to find a local Etsy shop in Penticton that created these awesome custom garlands for me.
We had a lot of fun introducing Baby B to new friends and would definitely recommend a Sip & See. It’s a nice way to have both mom and dad involved in the party for the new baby and keeps it casual which is more relaxing for new parents. Also, holding the celebration a little bit down the road once the baby is a few months old gives the new parents time to be adjusted and comfortable. Also, for me any reason I can think of to surround my little one with love, fun, happiness and to celebrate his arrival – I’ll do it!
