The Telegram

Hi all! My hope for my blog is to inspire people in their daily life. Whether it’s with recipes, new makeup tricks, home decor ideas or fabulous new places to visit and try. I hope that you are able to get something out of reading this blog. After making the switch from being a food and wine blogger and now becoming more a lifestyle blogger I have found myself wondering what category I now fit in. I finally decided that it doesn’t matter! If I have an amazing food product to recommend then I’m going to share it. If I have found a fabulous new skin cleanser, I am going to share that information on my blog too. If there’s a fun foodie event going on, you better believe that I will post that! What I realized is that this blog is me and I am multifaceted, so that is what this blog is all about. The Betty Diaries is my public diary of things that I have found that I have love and have brought joy into my life.  From inspirational quotes, nail polish trends, amazing recipes, must try wines and more. I hope that you as a reader are able to take these little nuggets of goodness that I share and somehow find inspiration in your own life. Life isn’t always sunshine and lollipops and no ones is perfect, including mine but I hope to bring a little goodness and positivity into the world by sharing these things that I have found happiness in and gotten joy out of. Hopefully you can find a recipe that you love too, or maybe through this blog I have inspired you to try something you never considered before. With that being said, thank you for reading and being on this blogging adventure with me. Now, on to the good stuff. Below is The Telegram, a reflection of what I love lately and have been up to. Scroll down for lots of yummy must-try desserts, makeup tips, natural home air purifiers, Spring makeovers and more.

XO BETTY

photo 3I discovered this super easy cat eye liner tutorial. I loooove liquid eyeliner and  1950’s and 60’s makeup looks so I am forever searching for eyeliner tips and tricks from that era. This little diagram helped me so much. Now ,I start from the end and colour it in, like a colouring book (except on your face, haha).

photo 10I recently bought a Himalayan Salt Lamp. It’s supposed to have a plethora of benefits for the air and energy in your home, including producing negative ions, which purify the air. For more of the health benefits read more HERE. I love the glow, it’s so peaceful and zen-like. I picked mine up a Shoppers Drug Mart Home Health Care center, on sale for $20!

photo 1Have you started to embrace Spring fashion yet? I have, with the help of this pretty turquoise daisy bracelet from Suburban Princess in Summerland. My Easter egg purple nails are the quintessential perfect pastel match!

cakeNow on to the desserts portion of today’s post. I have about three different cake pictures to share today. Firstly, I recently made this absolutely delicious quinoa chocolate cake. A friend shared the recipe with me from the blog Jumpers and Jasmine. I have never baked with quinoa before and was pleasantly surprised with the texture of the cake. It’s like taking a bubbly bite of chocolate, kind of like an Aero chocolate bar. This cake is so moist that it doesn’t even need icing. You can find the recipe HERE.

photo 8Don’t feel like baking? Then try this! I have discovered THE BEST carrot cake this side of the Mississippi! It’s creamy, flavorful, sweet and a bit crunchy. This cake can be found at Trafiq Bakery on Main Street in Vancouver. You HAVE to go here next time you’re in that neighbourhood. Everything in this bakery is mouthwatering but this carrot cake is to die for! I think I may even get this for my birthday cake this year.

photo 2Last but not least in the dessert portion with my blog post today is this little jar of delight from Poppadoms restaurant in Kelowna. I had a wonderful dinner with my Mom there last week where and we shared this yummy coconut pudding jar. Poppadoms is my favourite restaurant in Kelowna, it’s Indian cooking with a Okanagan flavour twist. Their pakoras are a must try too!

photo 9I had a lovely dinner date with one of my besties at The Hooded Merganser in Penticton. How amazing is this view? The Okanagan is truly such a spectacular place in the world!

photo 4Spring is all about refreshing your home, wardrobe and look. I recently had some low lights put in my hair and had about two inches chopped off. I loved my hair cut from Krystle at The Garage in Penticton. Thanks girl!

I like your new hair colours, very sassy!!!!!! I enjoyed every word of what you wrote this time, reading all this took me away from the jitters I have from the second earthquake last night up in the north of Chile. This time the epicenter was Arica, and it was 7.5 in the Richter scale, and many small towns are cut from civilization as the roads have been split and nobody can drive in them. There is a town called Huara, which was completely destroyed, poor people, now they don´t have where to live, no electricity, no water, it is simply devastating. They say that not all of the energy has been released and they expect another earthquake stronger than these last two, I hope it doesn´t move towards the south where we are, i.e. central part of Chile. Tks. for taking me away from all this turbulent moment we are going through in this part of the world. Chao, saludos, Zulie
